This stunningly beautiful multi-gem ring (amethyst, diamond and peridot, the colours which represented the suffragettes during their movement) remains in tip top condition.
Set on an 18ct gold band, it features a bright amethyst sandwiched between two twinkling peridots. 8 old cut diamonds sit above and below these colourful gems blending beautifully, and organised in two rows of four.
Jewellery which combined peridot, amethyst and diamonds or pearls together was often referred to as suffragette jewellery, as it was in these colours that the suffragettes were thought to communicate to each other that they supported the suffragette movement. (Green for 'Give', White for 'Women' and Violet for 'Vote')
This piece of history is hallmarked for 18ct Gold and Birmingham, but the date mark has been rubbed over time. However, i would date it to pre-1918.
It is currently a UK size L 1/2 (US 6), but it could easily be re-sized up or down. It weighs a very helathy 2.56g.
